SUZUKI takes the lead in the 115/140hp category

By Thomas P.

Extending the innovative technologies to its smaller models, Suzuki is once again awarded as the first worldwide to apply electronic control in the 115/140hp outboard engines category.

Beyond the electronic control, the new Suzuki DF140BG and DF115BG have many new features that improve their performance and make them friendlier and more enjoyable for users.

1. Suzuki Precision Control

The commands now reach the engine through an electrical signal and not by the traditional mechanical control cables. This means that the new BG version has a more immediate response, is friendlier and more enjoyable every time we shift backwards or forwards and of course when we push the throttle lever forward. Also, it is now very easy to be extremely precise concerning the engine’s rpm at which we wish to travel and of course to increase and decrease quickly and very easily our cruising speed, thus improving the quality of our ride in bad weather conditions.

All of the above clearly has a positive sign in terms of fuel economy.

2. Higher compression ratio – more torque

The new BG models have increased the compression ratio from 9.7:1 to 10.5:1, resulting in more low-end torque and more impressive acceleration. Combined with Suzuki Precision Control, the new models showed 1 second faster acceleration and a faster top speed of around 1.5 to 2 knots.

3. Quieter operation

Intake noise is suppressed with a new high-volume resonator while an optimized silencer reduces resonance. So the new models work more quietly, while the all-new and sound-absorbing material lining the cowl improves the result even more, making boating more pleasant.

4. Easier maintenance

By removing the engine cover, the oil filter is now easier to access. Additionally, a small tray has been added around the filter to catch the oil that comes out when the filter is changed and thus keep our engine clean.

5. Water detecting system

The new models feature a bigger fuel filter than previous models of DF140A/DF115A, which is easier to access while also protecting the engine from water entering the fuel.

...keep Ribbing!
