RIBCO Blade 30 - Twin Suzuki DF200A

By Thomas P.

When a 9-meter inflatable boat runs pleasantly at 35 to 40 knots without requiring much fuel, has a top speed range of 55 to 60 knots, is characterized by high quality construction and finish, has all those required amenities for our summer escapades, extremely seaworthy and able to travel comfortably and safely even in not the most favorable weather conditions then it automatically becomes the object of desire for any prospective buyer.

RIBCO marine's Blade 30 boasts all of the above features which we have seen firsthand during our tests, having the pleasure and honor of being the first to present it a while time ago.
In our first sea trial, which you can read here, Blade 30 wore two 225hp Mercury engines on her transom and really impressed us with its excellent performance but also with its excellent ride quality.
This time we were invited to try it with a completely different setup, since there were two Suzuki engines hanging on her transom, with a power of 200hp each one.
Our impressions were once more excellent as the boat recorded very good performance while her ride quality was superb.
She was standing on plane at low rpm, travelling very economically and fast against 4-5bf northerlies, was standing high of the water surface and her bow proudly was passing over the crests of the waves, while on the other hand she showed a light lag at low rpm and acceleration from a standstill up to 30 and 40 knots.

At 3000 rpm we were cruising at 21 knots burning 1.52 liters per nautical mile, while at 3500 rpm we were running at 27.5 knots with the fuel consumption dropping to 1.41 liters per mile which was also the most economical cruising speed.
At 4000rpm consumption rose slightly to 1.5l per mile while riding with 34.5 knots.
At full throttle, Blade 30 reached a top speed of 53.7 knots with the engines nearing their maximum rev limit.

You can see the detailed measurements in the table below:

A closer look at the measurement table shows the amazing slip numbers that Suzuki propellers achieve, meaning that we get the maximum performance they can achieve.

Blade 30 can be well equipped with a single engine of maximum power up to 450hp or with twin engines of the same total horsepower. Whichever combination you choose, it is certain that you will enjoy uncompromising performance, you will find out how friendly and flexible she is to her handle even in sharp maneuvers, while her stepped hull will take care of cushioning the ride, giving you unique moments of enjoyment.
