Mazziena 26SP – Twin DF150A Suzuki
The Sea stretches out in front of our bow like a blue page ready to be filled with our own stories.
Without limits or restrictions, with her thousand faces—vast and challenging, yet sweetly "salty."No matter how it presents herself, the Sea is... a Journey!
No longer a dividing boundary, she has become a realm of joy and freedom, of travel and exploration. We now share in her vastness, experiencing the absolute freedom that only the sea can make tangible.
All we need to do is unfold the nautical chart, set our course, and surrender to her enchanting voyage!
Our companion on this journey is the inflatable boat itself, which must be chosen based on high-quality criteria that ensure, above all, a safe approach to every destination.
Mazziena 26SP is certainly one such boat, designed to offer the highest level of comfort to its passengers in the mid-sized inflatable boat category. You can read about its features at the following link
This time, our test boat was powered by two 150hp Suzuki engines, which, with a 2.50:1 reduction ratio, were turning 14.5" x 23" three-blade stainless steel Suzuki propellers.
Having previously tested Mazziena 26SP with higher horsepower, I must admit I was quite skeptical, as the 2x150hp engines seemed rather small for this particular boat. However, my doubts disappeared the moment I first touched the controls. My initial impression was that the 26SP was feeling very comfortable with the two "small" engines on its transom, delivering exceptional performance.
With 150 liters of fuel, 80 liters of fresh water, and a crew of two, the boat planed in 5 seconds, remained on plane at 2,500 RPM while maintaining 10 knots, accelerated to 30 knots in 7 seconds, and reached 40 knots in 12 seconds. These numbers pleasantly surprised us, considering that we recorded almost the same results when testing Mazziena 26SP with a V10 400hp Mercury engine on its transom.
At 3,000 RPM, we cruised at 17 knots, consuming 1.52 liters per nautical mile.
At 3,500 RPM, we traveled at 23 knots, with fuel consumption at 1.56 liters per mile.
At 3,800 RPM, the boat comfortably maintained 25 knots, achieving its most economical consumption of 1.48 liters per mile, giving us a range of 101 nautical miles with 150 liters of fuel.
At 4,000 RPM, we cruised at 27 knots, with consumption remaining steady at 1.55 liters per mile.
At 4,500 RPM, we sped up to 32.5 knots, burning 1.6 liters per mile.
At WOT (Wide Open Throttle), Mazziena 26SP recorded a top speed of 45.7 knots, while the engine reached 6,100 RPM, exceeding the manufacturer’s recommended maximum by 100 RPM.
You can see our measurements in the table below:
A careful look at the measurement table reveals that this test setup required no adjustments, as it delivered excellent performance across the entire RPM range. The ride quality was also very impressive.
It is clear that the slip values recorded across the RPM range were very low, indicating a highly efficient setup. This allows us to maximize performance even at mid-range RPMs, maintaining the highest possible cruising speed while minimizing fuel consumption.
Mazziena 26SP is an ideal boat for nautical camping and can take us to distant destinations with comfort and safety. Its smooth ride and sturdy construction—which we verified in previous tests under harsh weather conditions—are major advantages in its long list of positive attributes.
We highly recommend the 2x150hp Suzuki engine setup as the best choice, where Mazziena 26SP truly shines, proving to be a fun, agile, and user-friendly vessel. It also offers an economical and comfortable ride, even when heading to faraway destinations.
