New 425hp Yamaha 5.6L V-8 (May 22, 2018)

(May 22, 2018)
Yamaha officially announced its new 425-horsepower four stroke outboard engine, called XTO. With a new, pretty cool looking and design that allows dockside serviceability, the new XTO engine has 6000 rpm redline, runs at a 1.79: 1 reduction ratio, weighs 432 to 453 kg depending on the length of its lower unit and is available with 5 years guarantee for pleasure use.

The new 5559 cc, 8-cylinder Yamaha XTO carries interesting new technologies, introducing a new power, performance and reliability class.

Some of its main specifications are:

  • It features an electric steering system –which applied for the first time, instead of the typical electrohydraulic system. It provides a fast, easy and precise movement of the engine without the risk of leakage, while ensures simple placement and reduced maintenance
  • It has the highest compression ratio 12.2: 1 of any outboard engine on the market
  • Its unique five-pump system creates an unprecedented fuel injection pressure of up to 2900 PSI to further maximize atomization and efficiency
  • It maximizes power and performance by spraying the fuel at high pressure directly into the combustion chamber. It’s the first 4-stroke powerhead in the outboard industry to feature direct injection
  • For the first time ever, you can drain and replace your lower’s unit lubricant without having to remove the boat from the water
  • It offers dual flush system
  • It uses the new XTO propellers, which have a diameter of 16 to 17 1/8 inches, thus greatly increasing the blade surface to convert the huge torque reserves into thrust. It is characteristic that with the new propellers a higher by 300% reverse thrust is achieved compared to the Yamaha F350.
